After using our Patchouli shampoo, you might find people telling you that you smell like patchouli while you are out and about. Bars are hard, long-lasting, and create a stable bubbly lather owing to a special blend of Organic Coconut, Fair Trade Organic Shea, and Castor oils. French Green Clay adds color and cleansing power. Most people do not need a conditioner when using this formula. If you have easily tangled or dry hair, then try this shampoo with our Leave-in hair serum. To use these shampoo bars wet the hair, and rub the bar onto a couple of areas on the hair. Then work up the lather with your hands. Bars are 4.25 - 5 oz.

Our Patchouli Soap is scented with dark Indonesian Pogostemon cablin essential oil and marbled with Organic Cocoa powder and Rhassoul clay. They are hard and long-lasting with a nice lather, and the coloration of each bar is unique. Bars weigh at least 4.25-5 oz.

Patchouli Deodorant: I have previously tried using powdered deodorant formulations made by others with baking soda and have found them to be irritating. This balm form helps balance the baking soda with conditioning Cocoa Butter and Olive oil. A small percentage of people may still experience irritation from baking soda. Based on feedback from customers we think that micro-traumas from shaving or waxing may predispose the skin to sensitivity to baking soda. Therefore, use with care after shaving, for example, shave at night and apply deodorant in the morning. If you would like to test this deodorant in a smaller container, you can find it in the samples section of my shop.

How to wash hair with a shampoo bar: Washing with a shampoo bar is pretty simple. First, you wet your hair, then rub the shampoo bar in a few patches in your hair. Work up the lather with your hands. Make sure the lather goes through all your hair and down to your scalp and scrub. Give your hair a complete cleaning. Rinse your hair with fresh water making sure to get out all the shampoo. Rinsing your hair with bathtub water that already has soap mixed in with it will not give you a clean rinse. You can wash with the shampoo bars every 2 to 3 days, or more often as needed.

Transitioning to Shampoo Bars: For some people, it takes longer than others to adjust to shampoo bars. This depends on a lot of factors including if there is buildup from other products in your hair. If your former shampoo has stripped your natural oils, then your scalp may seem to overproduce sebum when you switch to milder shampoos such as ours. Read this blog post if you need help transitioning. http://aquarianbath.blogspot.com/2012/04/how-to-give-your-hair-fresh-start-or.html

Incompatible products: Do not use shampoo bars with salt hair sprays.

Hard Water: We formulated all our shampoo bars to work with soft water and moderately hard water. They may create build-up for those with extremely hard well water.

Swimmers: After swimming in a chlorinated pool or saltwater, wash your hair twice for the best results. This is also the best practice when using traditional shampoos.

Bleached and highlighted hair: Our formulas work best with natural hair types, henna dyed hair, and dyed but not bleached hair. Bleached hair has a rough surface area that traps conditioning oils. This makes it difficult to get a residue-free rinse with bleached hair. Results vary with the level of damage from bleaching. Using a diluted vinegar rinse may help remove residue after washing with the shampoo bar. Use 1-2 Tablespoons in 1-quart water. Bleached hair that has also been dyed requires a strand test to make sure vinegar does not alter the hair color.
